  4. Is the pad hypo-allergenic?

Yes, the pad is hypo-allergenic and latex free. It is made of NBR, a premium material that is soft on the skin, durable, washable, great for spreading liquids and creams, and is the industry's choice for high quality cosmetic pads.

Also, the SunBuddy Lotion Applicator pad is anti-bacterial, anti-UV, and anti-copper treated.

  5. How often should I wash the pad?

For best results, we recommend cleaning the pad after each use. However, if you are on holiday and are using the SunBuddy to apply sunscreen, then you can wash the pad at night. If you are using the SunBuddy Lotion Applicator at home to apply body lotion, then the pad can be washed every 2-3 days.

When in doubt, wash the pad after each use. Then allow the pad to fully dry before reusing or storing it in the included protective pouch. Store the pad in a cool, dry place.

  6. What are some tips for using the SunBuddy Lotion Applicator to apply sunscreen to my own back?

We recommend using a mirror so that you can see your entire back and keep track of areas you have covered. Before applying sunscreen, make sure your back is dry. Divide your back into three sections: upper, mid and lower. Apply sunscreen to only one section at a time. Within each section, start from one side of the back and move across to the other side. Ensure thorough coverage before moving onto the next section of your back.

To reach your upper and middle back sections, hold the SunBuddy by its bottom handle and reach over your shoulders. To reach your sides and lower back, hold the SunBuddy by either of the rubber grips on the top or bottom handle. Switch hands when necessary for most comfort and control.

Always keep the entire surface area of the pad in contact with your back while applying uniform rubbing pressure so that your skin absorbs the sunscreen. Use generous amounts of sunscreen and apply thoroughly. Oh, and take your time, we wouldn't want you to miss a spot!

Remember to apply generous amounts of sunscreen half an hour before sun exposure and to reapply every two hours or after swimming or sweating. When in doubt, apply more sunscreen and be sure to go over the same areas of your skin multiple times to ensure effective coverage and protection.

  7. After a few applications, the pad discolored. Do I need to replace it?

Applying lotion to your body is a dirty job but 'SunBuddy' has to do it. The pad may discolor or be stained by the chemicals in your lotions or by the dirt and oils from your skin. However, this may not mean that the pad must be replaced.

To minimize discoloration, be sure to rinse the pad with warm water and anti-bacterial soap after each use. Allow the pad to fully dry before reusing. The pad may not look newly perfect but that does not mean it is not as effective.

When in doubt, replace the pad. You can purchase a 3 pack pad replacement here.

  8. Can I take the SunBuddy Lotion Applicator to the beach?

Yes, the SunBuddy Lotion Applicator is stylish, compact, and light-weight. The body is just 9 inches by 1.25 inches by 1.5 inches when folded - small enough to fit in your pocket or backpack. Keep in mind that sand is a granular mineral and difficult to wash off, so be sure to always keep the SunBuddy in its protective pouch when not in use. Avoid placing the SunBuddy Lotion Applicator and its pads in direct sunlight.

Yes, you can use the SunBuddy Lotion Applicator to help you apply ointment to your new tattoo. We recommend that you wash the pad after each use and that you replace the pads more frequently to avoid the risk of re-infection. It is also best to alternate between a number of pads. 10. Help! I accidentally got sand and debris into the SunBuddy Lotion Applicator.

Sand is a very granular and abrasive material. If you happen to get sand and debris into the SunBuddy's joint or any other area, immediately stop using it to prevent any further damage. Then, throughly rinse the SunBuddy under clean water to flush out sand and debris.

Be sure to dislodge any trapped sand, especially at the joint. The SunBuddy Lotion Applicator has special escape holes located on the underside of both the top and bottom handle to allow sand and debris to flush as water rinses through.

Be sure to always keep the SunBuddy Lotion Applicator in its protective pouch when not in use.

  12. How often do I need to replace the soft pad?

The pad can last for mutiple uses if you gently wash it with warm, soapy water and then allow it to dry before re-use. To prolong the life of the pad, avoid heavy scrubbing of the pad's surface when washing it. For best results, replace the pad when it shows any signs of wear and tear.

  13. Can pads go through the washing machine?

We do not recommend placing the pad in your washing machine as it will reduce the lifespan of the pad.

  14. Does using the SunBuddy Lotion Applicator to apply sunscreen guarantee that I will not get a sunburn?

Although the SunBuddy will help you apply sunscreen and other lotions to hard-to-reach areas of your back, it is up to you to remember to apply and to reapply generous amounts of sunscreen. Thus, we cannot guarantee that using the SunBuddy Lotion Applicator will prevent you from getting a sunburn and/or skin cancer. Everyone's skin reacts differently to UV rays, so please consult your dermatologist and practice safe fun in the sun.
